Nancy Drew, yaşadığı yer olan Horseshoe Bay'deki gizemli olayları çözmeye çalışan genç ve zeki bir dedektiftir. Nancy'nin annesinin ani ölümü, üniversite hayallerini suya düşürür. Üniversiteye yeniden başvuru yapabilmesi için öncelikle annesinin gizemli ölümünü çözmeye karar verir. Ancak kasabanın önemli isimlerinden biri öldürüldüğünde, Nancy kendini şüpheliler arasında bulur. Diğer şüpheliler arasında Nancy'nin okuldaki başdüşmanı George Fan, geçmişi gizemler içinde olan zengin kız Bess Marvin, Nancy'nin erkek arkadaşı Ned Nick Nickerson ve Ace yer alıyordur.
